Larry Bergstrom, MD

Larry Bergstrom MD was born in central Minnesota and raised on a family dairy farm. He graduated from St Cloud State University in 1976 with a BA in Chemistry. He attending the University of Minnesota Duluth Medical School 1976-1978 and received his MD at the University of Minnesota Minneapolis Medical School in 1980. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester MN in 1983. He served 2 years in Flora, Illinois in the US Public Health Service 1983-1985. He joined the Coleman Clinic, Canton IL 1985-1987 in a general internal medicine practice. He returned to Mayo Clink Rochester MN in 1987 as a staff physician. He received a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics 1988. From 1987-2006 worked in the Division of Area Medicine dividing time between an outpatient internal medicine practice and as attending consultant on the inpatient General Medicine Teaching service.  He received several teaching awards and was named as Laureate Physician in the Department of Medicine in 2006. He served as Division Chair from 1998-2005. He began the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona with the help of a Bravewell scholarship in 2005, completing the program at the end of 2006. He moved to the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale AZ in June 2006 and joined the Division of Regional and International Medicine to start and develop an Integrative Medicine Clinic and Program.  His special interests are developing Integrated Medical Treatment plans for patients with complex medical problems who have not been served well by conventional medicine and in promoting an integrated approach to health to the Mayo Clinic Arizona staff and employees.
