Title Acupuncture is proven effective as osteoarthritis treatment
Event In one of the largest trials of its kind, researchers find that acupuncture can provide significant pain relief and improved functioning for people with osteoarthritis of the knee. Led by Dr. Brian Berman and funded by NCCAM and NIAMS, this randomized, double blind, controlled study is groundbreaking. It is the first large-scale, scientific evidence that acupuncture (an “alternative treatment”) is effective.

The mind is not underscored in this study, but traditional Chinese medicine underscores the connectivity of mind, body, and spirit in creating healing chi (or energy) in one’s body.

In the largest and longest randomized clinical trial to date, researchers show that traditional Chinese acupuncture can provide pain relief and improve function for people with osteoarthritis of the knee. The treatment is now considered an effective complement to standard care.

The spirit is not underscored in this study, but traditional Chinese medicine does support the spirit's role in creating healing chi (or energy) in the body.
